This volume covers only four families but with 431 species. The families involved are Fagaceae, Leguminosae, Caesalpinioideae, Moraceae and Myristicaceae. This is the largest of the three volumes produced so far and covered four large important families that are very common trees of the Bornean forests.
As with previous volumes, these revisions provide the most comprehensive description of the families that are found in Sabah and Sarawak. Each family is described in detail and keys are provided to the genera and tree species. All tree species are provided with detailed descriptions. Information on their distribution, ecology and uses are also included. Line drawings with details of leaves, flowers and fruits are provided for at least a species each genus, more often more than one species are illustrated for each genus. Of the four families revised, Moraceae and Myristicaceae are the most recent revisions, revised here even before the Flora Malesiana accounts have been produced.
