About this product

This audio guide presents the vocalizations of 99 bird species found in the lowland rainforests of the western Amazon basin. The emphasis here is on birds of mature forest, although we have included the voices of a few species found in second-growth or forest edge that are more often heard than seen.

The geographic area covered by this disc is from southern Peru (departments of Ucayali, Cuzco, Madre de Dios, and Puno) into northern Bolivia (departments of Pando, La Paz, and Beni). The distribution of many of these species extends beyond this area and so the disc will prove useful in adjacent areas as well. The voices of a few species that occur in this region in lowland forest, but that are more common in the "hill forest," are found on Voices of Andean Birds: Volume 1.
