About this book

Language: Catalan

This thesis reports the results of a study on the epiphytic lichens, their lichenicolous fungi and some corticolous fungi of 97 localities, 74 of which are situated in Southern Catalonia (Baix Ebre, Montsià and Terra alta) and the rest in the País Valencià (Baix Maestrat, Plana alta, Plana baixa. Els Ports, Vail de Cofrents and Baix Segura). The principal aim of this study is to set up: 1) the floristic catalogue of the epiphytic lichens and of their lichenicolous fungi and 2) the epiphytic lichen communities of Southern Catalonia.

Sixty species of phorophytes were sampled. The floristic catalogue includes 340 taxa, 319 ascomycetes (108 genera), 11 coelomycetes (8 genera) and 8 hyphomycetes (7 genera). Among the 340 species listed, 48 taxa are lichenicolous fungi and some others are non-lichenized ascomycetes. Further, 2 myxomycetes found growing on lichen thalli are also mentioned. As a result of this study 5 lichen species have been described and a new combination was already proposed.
