About this book

A critical standard flora of all families of agarics and boleti in the Netherlands and surrounding countries. Although focused on the Netherlands, the work can be used in the whole of western and northern Europe, excluding species that are confined to arctic or alpine habitats.;The flora offers extensive, completely mutually comparable descriptions and line drawings of habit and the most important microscopial characters of all species occurring in the Netherlands and adjacent countries, all based upon personal observations and field notes. Furthermore, practical keys are given to accepted species, as well as correct names of, concise synonymies for, and ecological and distributional data. Extralimital taxa of which occurrence in the Netherlands can be expected on account of their ecology and/or geographical distribution are included in the keys, whereas a concise synonymy, references to selected descriptions and illustrations, and a short diagnostic description are given in textual part. For various reasons a number of taxa less likely to be encountered in the Netherlands are included only in the keys merely with their author citation and one reference to the literature.;Each volume contains introductory chapters with an extensive glossary of terms and lists of abbreviations of authors' names and bibliographic abbreviations.
