Media reviews

The main purpose of the book is to aid the reader in identifying plants with ease. This book is unique in its conception since it combines well written text incorporating scientific terminology and it is illustrated by detailed photographs. As such, it can be a very useful tool to expert and layperson alike since it allows learning on multiple levels.

This publication describes 404 species, including 12 sub-species, that are presented in detail with 2700 photographs. Each species or sub-species is accompanied by photographs in which their distinguishing characteristics are clearly seen. The photographs show the plant in its habitat, as well as various parts of it, such as the leaves, the inflorescence, the flower, the fruit and the seed. Where necessary there are photographs of smaller parts of the above, such as the calyx, the corolla, androecium and gynoecium.
