About this book

Language: German

Volume 1 of this classic German excursion fauna, originally written by Erwin Stresemann, is available in a completely new version. It contains an overview of the system of animals and identification keys for all groups of animals contained in the 3 volumes of the series. It provides determination tables and detailed information on sponges, Coelenterata (an obsolete term encompassing the animal phyla Cnidaria (coral animals, true jellies, sea anemones, sea pens, and their allies) and Ctenophora (comb jellies)), flatworms, molluscs, annelids, arthropods, echinoderms, tunicates and many other groups of animals. A total of 19 phyla are dealt with, these are all large groups of multicellular animals that occur in Central Europe. Tables in many cases allow the determination of individual species, for example completely for molluscs, arachnids and millipedes. The succinct text is illustrated with detailed drawings of important distinguishing features. In addition to terrestrial habitats, the book also covers freshwater biotopes and the North and Baltic Seas.
