This book in ESA's Proceedings series analyzes how the pollination needs of North American agricultural crops will be met in the 21st century. While our crops include thousands of introduced species, fewer than 1% of our bee species are non-indigenous. The book addresses the wisdom and feasibility of introducing bees to pollinate our non-native crops. The history and management of crop pollinators is discussed in the first sections, and later chapters focus on lessons learned from past introductions as well as other pollination topics.
