About this book

Language: French, with trilingual summary in English, French, and German

This book presents the first detailed description of the diatom flora from coastal locations in the temperate zone of the northeastern Pacific Ocean, near the Canadian West Coast. The authors provide photographic plates with the light micrographs of 208 diatom taxa from 86 genera, recorded in marine and lake sediment cores well as from pond surface samples collected in both alpine and coastal settings of southern Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands and adjacent Hecate Strait). The taxonomic and iconographic sections of this book include descriptions and illustrations of the taxa encountered, as well as some autecological information. These data should provide a helpful reference guide for the use of diatoms in future (palaeo-) limnological and (palaeo-) oceanographic studies.
