True fruit flies (Tephritidae) are serious pests of fruit and cucurbit vegetables, and many are of international plant quarantine importance as their presence often constitutes a trade barrier. In Malesia, the major pests are all species of the tribe Dacini, the subject of this CD-ROM. The key permits the separation of 414 species, including 29 pest species, and also updates a previously published system by the same authors that covered a slightly wider area. All of the species accounts have been revised to incorporate new host data resulting from recent major surveys in the region, and 50 additional species of Bactrocera and Dacus were added. All species are illustrated by line drawings depicting their habitus and colour patterning. The introduction includes details of how to identify the Dacini, and there are sections on collection and preparation methods, morphology, a checklist of world Dacini, a host catalogue (including male lure data), a bibliography, and a list of species which are known to be difficult to separate morphologically.
