This book on Finnish arboreta is meant for everyone interested in woodly plants, nature and travelling. The purpose of the book is to provide information in a portable form on over 80 sites throughout Finland. Most of the arboreta in the book are found in the southern parts of the country. This is largely due to two facts: first, in the North very few new introductions survive, whereas in the milder southern parts many foreign introductions can be grown. Secondly, a large part of the Finnish population is found in the South and near the coastline, and hence most of the tree populations are planted there. However, all arboreta increase our knowledge on the survival of exotic woody species in Finland. At each of the sites, detailed information is given to help the traveller decide whether the park is worthwhile visiting. Many of the arboreta is this book are, however, private and therefore contact details are provided so that visits can be arranged with the owners. Scientific and binomial names for species are included.
