About this book

Co-published with the Bombay Natural History Society, this commemorative volume in honor of Dr. Ali - who had been involved with the history society since he was a child - comprises 24 articles on ornithology by his friends, colleagues, and students. They range from observations on the biology of the mountain hawk eagle to 20th century changes in the avifauna of Pakistan and the post-independence history of Indian ornithology. The title comes from the generic name of the yellow-throated sparrow, which played a role in getting the young Ali interested in studying birds.
