This book is unique in coverage, summarizing all available information concerning the American simuliid fauna south of the United States. It also includes morphological diagnoses of females, males, pupae and larvae, as well as keys (in English and Spanish), illustrations of characters, mapped distributions, and bionomics. This region appears to support 359 species grouped in two tribes, 12 genera and 18 subgenera. The description of each taxon is provided with a list of the available literature, as well as other relevant information.
