In recent years great efforts have been made to protect the Bearded Vulture in Europe and this has led to the recovery of the Pyrenean population and the reintroduction of the species in the Alps. Both in the Pyrenees and the Alps, in the latter case 15 years after the first bearded vultures were released, this species can in theory be observed in any valley. In order to monitor the evolution of these populations, careful observation and meticulous recording of all the observations must be carried out.
The authors have very carefully gathered together a wealth of data and photographic material on the evolution of the Bearded Vulture according to its age, and have presented them here in an easily understood synthesis.
