About this book

Introductory text which deals with the morphological, physiological and developmental aspects of amphibians. Amphibians are the first land vertebrates evolved from fishes. They lead a dual life and carry on all physiological activities smoothly in water as well as on ground. The author has chosen those aspects of the subject which are essential for the student to understand, and arranged them in such a way that he can use them as pegs on which to hang more information. In order to achieve this, most of the instruction given in larger text books has been condensed and presented concisely in simple graphs and diagrams. The student can thus acquire an easily assimilated understanding of basic amphibian physiological activities which provides a firm foundation on which to build his further studies.
