This monograph of the Fauna Ibérica series, devoted to living Amphibians (Clase Amphibia), gathers and summarizes the vaste amount of information on the biology, ecology and systematics of the native and introduced species that currently inhabit and reproduce on the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Taxonomic information has been reviewed and updated using the latest morphological and molecular studies, and where necessary new names and name combinations have been introduced. The monograph also contains identification keys, numerous black and white illustrations, along with distribution maps and colour photographs of all the species.

Esta monografía de la Serie Fauna Ibérica, dedicada a los Anfibios (Clase Amphibia) actuales, recoge y sintetiza la enorme cantidad de información sobre la biología, ecología y sistemática de las especies nativas o introducidas que actualmente habitan y se reproducen en la Península Ibérica e islas Baleares. La información taxonómica está actualizada y revisada de acuerdo con los últimos estudios morfológicos y moleculares, por la que ha sido necesaria la introducción de nombres y combinaciones que hasta la fecha no habían sido utilizados. La obra se complementa con claves de identificación y numerosas ilustraciones en blanco y negro, además de mapas de distribución y fotografías en color de todas las especies.
