This report presents the biological results and conservation recommendations of a 2003 expedition into the forests of southeast Guinea, whose plant and animal species have been little known. Researchers, led by a team from the Center for Applied Biodiversity Science, found 540 species of plants and over 400 animal species, with particular diversity among birds.

Biography

Heather E. Wright is manager of the Rapid Assessment Program at Conservation International's Center for Applied Biodiversity Science, and Jennifer McCullough was manager of the program from 2002 to 2005. Leeanne E. Alonso is vice president of the Rapid Assessment Program. Mamadou Saliou Diallo is program coordinator for Guinee Ecologie.
