About this book

Namibia, the vast and sparsely inhabited country in South West Africa, invites the more adventurous travellers to explore some of the most wonderful landscapes on our planet. The Namib, the oldest desert in the world extends the length of the western (south Atlantic) boundary, extending inland 100 to 150 kilometres. To the east is the Kalahari Dessert and between is a land of high plateau. All the regions offer a different environment and contrasting wildlife. Impossible, then, to comprehensively explore the country in one small book. Nevertheless, the authors present images to capture the spirit of the land and, and set out to share their field experiences, giving advice to add to the enjoyment of exploring the nature and wildlife of the country. Where appropriate, each picture is linked to a caption explaining the circumstances of the shoot and offering practical photographic advice.
