The Ecuadorian species of the subfamily Panicoideae of Gramineae have been revised. In the subfamily four tribes are recorded with 46 genera and 227 species of which nine are endemic to Ecuador.

Tribe Paniceae with 24 genera and 181 species of which six are endemic: Pseudechinolaena (1 sp.), Oplismenus (3 spp.), Ichnanthus (3 spp.), Echinolaena (1 sp., endem.), Panicum (33 spp.), Lasiacis (10 spp.), Hymenachne (2 spp.), Homolepis (1 sp.), Sacciolepis (1 sp.), Acroceras (1 sp.), Echinochloa (4 spp.), Brachiaria (12 spp.), Eriochloa (7 spp.), Acostia (1 sp., endem.), Paspalum (46 spp., 3 endem.), Axonopus (8 spp.), Setaria (13 spp.), Paspalidium (1 sp.), Stenotaphrum (1 sp.), Melinis (2 spp.), Digitaria (14 spp.), Pennisetum (9 spp., 1 endem.), Cenchrus (6 spp.), Anthephora (1 sp.).

Tribe Isachneae with one genus: Isachne (3 spp.). Tribe Arundinelleae with one genus: Arundinella (2 spp.).

Tribe Andropogoneae with 20 genera and 41 species of which three are endemic to Ecuador: Saccharum (1 sp.), Imperata (3 spp.), Trachypogon (1 sp.).
