The Ecuadorean members of the Sapotaceae are revised. Ten genera and 98 species have been recorded from Ecuador: Manilkara (3 spp.), Sideroxylon (1 sp.), Micropholis (9 spp.), Sarcaulus (3 spp.), Elaeoluma (1 sp.), Pouteria (61 spp.), Chrysophyllum (14 spp.), Ecclinusa (3 spp.), Pradosia (2 spp.), and Diploön (1 sp.). Six new species are described: Pouteria megaphylla T.D. Penn., Pouteria scabritesta T.D. Penn., Pouteria cordiformis T.D. Penn, Pouteria aurea T.D. Penn., Pouteria condorensis T.D. Penn. and Chrysophyllum manabiense T.D. Penn. Keys and descriptions of genera and species are given as well as synonomy and specimen citations. All species are illustrated.
