About this book

Language: English with bilingual summary in English and Spanish

The Ecuadorian members of the Combretaceae are revised. There are five genera and 25 species documented, or considered likely to occur in Ecuador: Buchenavia (10 spp.), Combretum (8 spp.), Conocarpus (1 sp.), Laguncularia (1 sp.), and Terminalia (5 spp.). One section is described as new: Buchenavia sect. Dolichostachys Stace, and four new combinations are made: Combretum sect. Thiloa (Eichler) Stace, Combretum paraguariense (Eichler) Stace, Conocarpus erectus L. forma sericeus (DC.) Stace, and Laguncularia racemosa var glabriflora (C. Presl.) Stace. All taxa are described, keys are provided for each taxon, and specimen citations are given for all species. Selected species are illustrated.
