About this book

Language: German

The fifth volume of the Rothmaler makes it possible to determine the herbaceous ornamental and useful plants cultivated in Germany, including the rarer species. For the approximately 3500 species one finds in it

- correct scientific names, and also important synonyms
- indication of the flowering month, the height of growth, the growth form and the frequency in the area
- references to use in horticulture and agriculture
- cultivation instructions for propagation, cultivation, and requirements for habitat or overwintering
- Distribution in Germany and locations in the region of origin
- Time and history of cultivation
- important varieties with their characteristics

Numerous drawings show important characteristics, but also the appearance of whole plants. The book is aimed at gardeners, experts and students of horticulture and agriculture, botanists and naturalists. It also has significance for the detection of changes in the wild flora, because most wild plants were originally cultivated.
