The Analysis of Tidal Stream Power reviews the tidal resources around the world as well as discussing the devices developed. The book presents, for the first time, research results covering the analysis of tidal stream power in Europe, North American and Australia. This book is divided into six Chapters. Chapter One details history of tidal science and includes biographical information on major figures, Chapters Two and Three draw upon recent research work to cover the application of fluid dynamics to tidal theory and to the physical principles of tidal stream power devices. The result is a set of analytical algorithms that enable the calculation of electrical energy at any tidal site from either chart data or relatively short-term current meter record.Chapters Four to Six represent the application of these algorithms to conditions in Europe, North America and Australia respectively based upon a mass of local data.
This is the first book focusing on tidal stream power systems. It reviews the tidal resources around the world. It presents a complete analysis of tidal stream power systems. It includes historical information on tidal science and biographical information on major figures. It concentrates on engineering physical geography rather than engineering specifics. In concentrating on engineering physical geography rather than engineering specifics (which change rapidly over time) the book provides a reference source for practitioners in the area in which they are least knowledgeable.
