Language: French
This work addresses the current state of our knowledge on the distribution, life cycles and conservation status of the 73 species of dragonflies still present or those few which, sadly, have disappeared from the territory.
The book is rich in illustrations, maps and photos and is the first to provide a synthesis of the information available for the Poitou-Charentes, representing a total of more than 60,000 observations.

The best regional altlas ever published
by Phil in France (01/12/2011)
Poitou-Charentes is a region in Western France (La Rochelle, Angoulême, Poitiers). The book deals with habitats, behaviour, conservation status of the 73 species of dragonflies that occurs in the area. Superb pictures illustrate all the different aspects of the dragonfly biology. About 200 naturalists contributed to the regional Atlas and the maps are particularly accurate.
The book could be the best companion to the people who plan to visit Poitou-Charentes. The 'where to watch dragonflies' chapter could be very useful to the ones who want to discover the Splendid Cruiser or the Pronged Clubtail.
For me, it is the best and most attractive regional atlas published in Europe.
