Volume 1 (which sits within volume 48 of the parent series Malayan Forest Records) provides revisions for lycopyhyte and fern families that occur in Peninsular Malaysia. It includes an overview of the orders, families and genera together with a key to identify families and a glossary of scientific terms. Revisions for 9 families, 21 genera and 100 species are provided that include descriptions and keys for the genera and species with conservation status and distribution maps provided for each species. Representative species are illustrated by botanical plates and colour photographs.
