About this book

Flowering shrubs provide an important contribution to the structural framework of a garden as well as contributing bursts of colourful blooms. With careful selection, they can keep a garden in flower every month of the year. "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Flowering Shrubs" is unique in its comprehensive photographic coverage of hardy flowering shrubs that excel in garden situations. Over 2,000 plants are featured in this authoritative reference that is organized alphabetically by botanical name and can also be readily accessed using the common name index. The essential horticultural notes that accompany each entry include expected height and spread, season of flowering, preferred position, soil and pruning requirements, USDA hardiness zone rating and, where applicable, the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
