About this book

As the world's first oceanarium, Marine Studios sparked America's imagination, displaying rare and unusual creatures in daily performances that included divers hand feeding sharks and sailors presenting friendly dolphins in amazing aerial feats. Behind the scenes, Marine Studios perfected scientific innovations, breeding and raising the first dolphin calf, discovering dolphin echolocation, and featuring Flippy, the first trained dolphin in the world's first dolphin show.

This collection of vintage-photographs explore the attraction's past.

A Look Back At The World's Original Marine Attraction
by Greg May in the United States (25/03/2012)

As the 'King of Aquaria', I couldn't wait for the new Image of America book about Marineland to arrive. Having made 100 visits to the world's first oceanarium (YouTube: Man Makes 100th Visit to Marineland) I was naturally curious since this is only the second tome written about Marineland since Ralph Nading Hill's, Window In The Sea was published in 1956. Although the book has a wealth of photos, there are inacurracies. The narrative was lifted right from Hill's Window In The Sea. I was also disappointed that there was very little focus on the extraordinary people who were instrumental in Marineland's creation and operation.
