Anodised aluminium 18 or 26 mm-diameter poles in a set of six (4 top and 2 bottom poles) giving an erected height of approximately 3 m.
The narrower poles are relatively light and portable, whereas the wider poles are very sturdy. The poles are made of anodised aircraft aluminum, improved with thicker-walled tubing for reduced flex and increased durability. The pole sets have hard anodised grey points and connectors, for increased strength and better resistance to corrosion in marine environments. The aluminum points are thicker at the tip to resist bending.
Guy line holes are on all pole connectors and guy lines are recommended when stacking three or more sections. The poles are coloured olive green, though the exact shade may vary.
To set pole bottoms into the ground, the best tool is a big rubber mallet. Alternatively the Avinet pole pounder is lightweight and handy but eventually will mushroom the connector tops. Try a wood mallet at your own risk. Do not pound the poles using sledge hammers, steel hammers, rocks, bricks or any metal or plastic dead-blow mallet.
