About this book

Language: English

The bryophytes include mosses and liverworts. Species density of bryophytes on the island of Taiwan is very high and is ascribed to its diverse vegetation and topography. There are 42 families, 121 genera, and about 487 species of liverworts and hornworts recorded from Taiwan. Most of the floristic studies were made by Japanese bryologists. Ever since 1960, Taiwanese bryologists have started to collect and study bryophytes. Several monographs on liverworts and mosses have been published, but, until now, there was no complete flora of the liverworts and hornworts of Taiwan.
