Welgevonden is one of South Africa's leading game reserves. It lies at the heart of the Waterberg mountain range, a region of great and rugged beauty in the Limpopo province, north of Johannesburg. Created in 1993, Welgevonden's story is one of optimism, of how, with vision and commitment, biodiversity can be restored and preserved, and how nature can be sustainably conserved in a precious part of our fragile planet. Ian Finlay's memorable images document the beauty of Welgevonden and the rich variety of the wildlife that now flourishes there.
Welgevonden: An African Wilderness Reborn has an introduction by Clive Walker, the distinguished South African conservationist, author and wildlife artist.
Ian Finlay has produced superb photographs of magnificent creatures [...] elephants, impalas, wildebeest, hippos--as well as exquisite snakes and lizards in 'Welgevonden: An African Wilderness Reborn', the story of a game reserve in the Waterberg mountains in South Africa that has been meticulously restored.
