About this book

Sir Andrew Smith was one of the first people to study South African herpetology. During his career he described 173 southern African vertebrate species, including 66 herpetological taxa. Reprinted in this book are ten herpetological publications by Smith with taxonomic significance, as well as the herpetological portions of Smith's other publications. Many of these papers are exceedingly rare and virtually unavailable, except in this facsimile.
