Biography

Elray Nixon is Professor Emeritus of Biology at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. His training is in plant ecology and plant taxonomy, having received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He has studied plant communities in eastern Texas since 1966. He was elected President of the Texas Academy of Science and was named Honorary Life Fellow in recognition of outstanding service to this organization.

Bruce Lyndon Cunningham is internationally known for his unique style and technique of botanical art. He received a BS in Forestry and a MA in Art from Stephen F. Austin State University at Nacogdoches, Texas. In 2005 he was commissioned by the United States Forest Service in Washington D.C. by the Chief Forester to design a painting for the 100th year of the U.S. Forest as a gift to the President of the United States.
