About this book

Iceland Pure is a photo book that is fully dedicated to the beautiful and unique nature of Iceland. It is not difficult to explain why many nature photographers are attracted by Iceland. It has the largest glacier of Europe, the most beautiful and powerful waterfalls and the most active volcanoes. And moreover, large amounts of puffins and harlequin ducks, wild coastlines and black lava beaches, isolated plateaus and all kind of bizarre geothermal phenomena. At Iceland, Dutch nature photographer Theo Bosboom feels closer to nature than anywhere else: “somehow it seems like I experience nature here much more intense. Iceland gets under my skin, it moves me, it overwhelms me, time and time again”.

Iceland Pure contains Theo’s personal photographic vision on Iceland, with a focus on the details in the landscape and with many graphic and stylistic images.

Biography

Theo Bosboom (1969) is a passionate nature photographer, living in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Close to his home there are several interesting nature areas, like Deeler Woud, Meinerswijk and Rozendaalse bos, that are frequented by Theo. His favourite areas outside the Netherlands include Iceland, the Ardennes in Belgium, Sweden and the Alps.

Theo  is regarded as a creative nature photographer with a good eye for detail and composition. Since his start with nature photography in 2003, he has won numerous awards at major international nature photography competitions, like the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the European Wildlife Photographer of the year, Asferico and Glanzlichter. In 2005 he was elected Argus Photographer of the year, as the overall winner of the Argus photo contest in Belgium. In 2009 Theo had the honour of being a member of the jury at the European Wildlife Photographer of the year contest.

Theo is a regular contributor to the Dutch Grasduinen nature magazine and his pictures have been published in several other magazines and newspapers, including Focus (NL), Naturfoto (Germany) and BBC Wildlife magazine (UK). Theo is represented by the Dutch stock bureau for nature and outdoor photography Buiten-Beeld.

For Theo nature photography is the ideal mix between enjoying the wonders of nature, being outdoors and creative expression. He would be very happy if his photo’s could make a small contribution to the respect for and the preservation of nature.
