About this book

Language: German

Using text and grid maps (based on 1/16th of the topographical map 1:25,000) the author describes and assesses the distribution and endangerment of 1440 species of vascular plants in the Region of Wiesbaden (state capital) and the district Rheingau-Taunus (Hessen, Germany) is shown. The environmental conditions for the occurrence of plant species in the area are briefly described. To show the distribution of plant species nearly 100,000 field data, collected between 1950 and 2004, were analysed.

The data are from various, often unpublished sources and include data from grid mapping by the author. For dispersed or rare species the locations and the author are cited, for rare species the field data are documented with exact coordinates. Older data from before 1950 were used to estimate the endangerment of the plant species. A red list of the endangered vascular plants for the examined area lists the category of the endangerment and gives landscape planners and administrations references for the evaluation of effects of human activities on those species.
