About this book

The present book Flora of South Central Rajasthan deals with the floral resources of the area of Ajmer, Rajsamand, Bhilwara and Chttorgarh districts which is represented by the admixture of western dry and southern wet zone elements of Rajasthan. 686 species belonging to 416 genera and 117 families have been presented. Besides providing an upto date nomenclature and full synonymy of all the taxa the elaborate description of species provided is based on personal observations of the authors. Special attention has been given to the information on nomenclature, identification and critical evaluation of species. Ecological notes along with phenology and ethnobotanical importance have been incorporated to almost all the taxa. The distributions of taxa in the world and in India have also been provided for each taxon. 187 good quality illustrations and more than 341 coloured photographs have added to the value of Flora of South Central Rajasthan. Moreover, 7 new taxa have been added to the flora of Rajasthan. It is hoped that Flora of South Central Rajasthan will certainly serve as an excellent reference material and practical guide for teachers, researchers, students and environmentalists' as well as for conservation of biodiversity and sustainable utilization of plant resources.

Biography

B.L. Yadav, Ph.D., F.B.S., F.I.F.S. Lecturer in Botany has presently been working at M.L.V. Government PG College, Bhilwara (Rajasthan). He has 25 years of experience of teaching taxonomy, pteridology, ecology and environment. He has worked extensively with floristics (Lower and higher vascular plants) and phytosociology of Rajasthan. Dr. Yadav has published more than 90 research papers including several new records for Rajasthan flora. He has also authored seven books. Dr. Yadav has been the principal investigator of several research projects funded by UGC. He has guided nine Ph. D. students and is life member of half a dozen academic bodies.  
 
K.L. Meena, Ph.D., F.B.S. Lecturer in Botany is a dynamic taxonomist and has presently been working at M.L.V. Government PG College, Bhilwara (Rajasthan). He has 16 years of experience of teaching taxonomy, ethnobotany, ecology and phytosociology. He got his Ph. D. degree in taxonomy. Dr. Meena has worked extensively on different aspects of Rajasthan flora namely taxonomy, ethnobotany, phytogeography, phytosociology and conservation. Dr. Meena has published more than 40 research papers in standard journals including the several new records for Rajasthan flora. He has been guiding 2 Ph. D. students. Dr. Meena has won several best paper awards in various seminars / symposia. He has been the principal investigator of several research projects funded by UGC and is life member of half a dozen academic bodies.
