Series: Bulletin of the British Museum (Natural History) Zoology Volume: 32/4
By: Peter Humphry Greenwood (Author)
38 pages, 23 b/w line drawings
From the introduction:
"Little detailed information is available on the cranial musculature of elopomorph fishes, a gap in our knowledge which was brought home when recently I was asked to comment on the possible significance of a bony bridge on the angulo-retroarticular of AIbula vulpes (Nybelin, 1976). From this initial involvement with Albula my interest turned to its supposed near relative, Pterothrissus. [...] The results of these comparative anatomical studies have provided new information which I believe can be used to throw light on the phyletic relationships and hence classification of the Elopomorpha."
