Ophiocordyceps sinensis is a precious wild species of fungus with distinct tonic and pharmaceutical functions, only found at the Tibetan Plateau. In China, it is mainly grown in five provinces, namely Tibet, Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan. In recent years, with continuos raise in people's living standerd and healthcare awareness, there is an expanding demand on Ophiocordyceps sinensis home and abroad. As its economic value increases, ophiocordyceps sinensis has developed into an important industry for rural poverty reduction and income generation in major growing areas.
