About this book

Some 56 horticulturally important taxa in eight genera are found in this natural grouping. Only two are well known, but all deserve of expanded attention, most notably Stomatium – easily grown pimpled tufts with intoxicating flowers that open at dusk. Glottiphyllums have tongue-like leaves that flush over summer to purple and red gummybears. And Faucaria tigrina has among the longest and most interesting of mesemb histories. These along with the famous Baby Toes, Frithia, serves as strong anchors for the book.
