About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and French

On Reunion Island, identification of orchids began in 1880 with the work of botanist Charles Frappier. He published at this time a provisional catalog that included only 145 species names, without any description. In 1895, Dr. Eugène Jacob Cordemoy continued this work and published a Flore de l’île de La Réunion..

Following these great botanists,
Orchidées de La Réunion presents one hundred and fifty-eight species with brief descriptive comments for proper identification of each. Numerous images illustrate each species, with, for each, a front and side view of the flower and a photo of the leaves. Additionally, several photographs of plants in their natural habitats are included for each species.
