In addition, this small book is a gift back to the native people in thanks for their sharing of knowledge, and returning to them a book in written form.
In the Nagoya Protocol, several states have agreed that natural resources such as plants and ethnobotanical knowledge, belong to the country of origin and to the indigenous people. Foreigners who gain access to those resources must share the results and benefits with the people owning the knowledge.
