About this book

Language: Spanish

From the publisher's announcement:

"The image of raptors is closely linked with the history of man.
They are allegories of strength, power and arrogance, attributes that have been placed on banners, coats of arms and thrones worldwide. Many civilizations have exalted raptors to the pantheon of gods as deities by themselves or as a symbol of holiness, from the eagle of San Juan to the god Horus of the Egyptians, to the totems of Native American tribes. When man did not yet have weapons for hunting as effective as they are nowadays,
eagles and hawks accompanied hunters and were trained to be used as a ranged weapon . No wonder, therefore, that raptors have demanded the attention of researchers, nature lovers and artists and today there are hundreds of technical studies and informative works on these birds and abundant poetic literature and art that represent them.

Viaje a las Rapaces takes a different look at these birds, and is a book that seeks to convey the excitement of direct observation of birds of prey in their natural habitats, both from a point of view of natural history and study. The text is informative and rigorous about the fascinating world of this group of birds, which is so diversified evolutionarily that it includes species that inhabit desert areas and areas that are covered by snow most of the year. It is a book that will surely encourage many people to look up at the sky and wondering if it's worth losing all the wealth of biodiversity that this planet holds in exchange for maintaining an outdated economic system that benefits only a few."
