From the introduction:
"The present paper is based on a collection of 425 bird specimens (encompassing 103 species and subspecies, distributed among 41 families and 14 orders) collected from the district of Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, during January and February 1978 by a party of the Zoological Survey of India, under my leadership. The survey involved mainly studies on the taxonomy and zoogeography; however, notes on ecology and behaviour of the birds have also been provided."
