The Hochobir is one of the most popular excursions and hiking mountains in the Karawanks, Carinthia, Austria, and thousands of people each year visit the Obir caves. Der Hochobir aims to give the reader an insight into the history of the mountain and its exploration. Among other things, it describes the evolution of the oldest and highest meteorological station of the Habsburg Monarchy, and deals with the peculiarities of the Obir dialect. Furthermore, Der Hochobir covers geology, mineralogy, the botanical life and the zoological peculiarities of Hochobir.
