After a general introduction to dragonflies, Die Libellen Kärntens provides especially detailed information on the research history and current distribution of the 63 native species of dragonflies in Carinthia. Approximately 4200 records dating from 1859 to 2012 were evaluated. Each type is presented alongside excellent photos, with interesting details about behaviour and habitats. Also included is an updated Red List of dragonflies of Carinthia.

Nach einer allgemeinen Einführung in die Libellenkunde bietet das Buch vor allem detaillierte Informationen zur Erforschungsgeschichte und aktuellen Verbreitung der 63 in Kärnten heimischen Libellenarten. Dazu wurden etwa 4.200 Datensätzen von 1859 bis 2012 ausgewertet. Jeder Art wird in exzellenten Fotos vorgestellt und es werden die wichtigsten Bestimmungsmerkmale sowie interessante Details zu ihrem Verhalten und zu ihren Lebensräumen angeführt. Abgerundet wird das Buch durch eine aktualisierte Rote Liste der Libellen Kärntens
