About this book

Language: Trilingual in English, Danish, and Chinese

This art book is the result of a collaboration between butterfly collector Knud Bech, Artist Nes Leppa, and naturalist Morten Top-Jensen. Knud introduced Nes and Morten to one another in 2010. Knud has friendships in two worlds – the world of butterflies and the world of art and when Nes and Morten meet, the two worlds merge. This meeting has developed into a fantastic collaboration. Morten has become involved in a long, creative process, photographing Nes' ceramic sculptures in nature. The vision is further developed in this book, so that the watercolours that Nes paints in his hut north of Jokkmokk, near Årrenjarka, are photographed in the Lapland landscape. Thus the pictures are given back to the landscape – to the source of inspiration.

Lapponia Frigga juxtaposes art and nature. Three men with different spheres of interest where the passion for butterflies unites them. Knud, the active collector, Morten, who photographs the living insects and Nes, with his many years' fascination of butterflies.
