Atlas de las Aves en Invierno en España 2007-2010 is the result of field work completed over three years by thousands of volunteers, coordinated by SEO/BirdLife. This organization has also carried out the enormous task of the analysing, interpreting and publishing the data in Atlas de las Aves en Invierno en España 2007-2010. The work includes a lengthy and detailed description of the methodology applied, the winter climate of Spain, geographical variations, the variety of species wintering on the Iberian Peninsula, seasonal and environmental factors, a discussion of the role of protected areas as winter refuges for trans-Saharan migrants in Spain.
