Conopodium majus is new for Belgium and the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. It was found in 1986 in the Flanders and Lorraine districts, and already in 1975 in the Brabant district. All known and forgotten localities in France (north and east of the Seine) and in Germany are mentioned. The distribution in Central Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles and the Mediterranean area is discussed and illustrated. C. majus may be considered as a subatlantic species (s.s). Since there are numerous discoveries in the late twenty five years, an extension of the area in West Europe to the north and the east is plausible.
