The Bryozoan fauna of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and the close Belgian, French and German borderland is formed by the following species:
Fredericella sultana (BLUMENBACH, 1779);
Plumatella fruticosa ALLMAN, 1844;
Plumatella emarginata ALLMAN, 1844;
Plumatella casmiana OKA, 1907;
Plumatella repens (LINNE, 1758);
Plumatella fungosa (PALLAS, 1768);
Hyalinella punctata (HANCOCK, 1850);
Cristatella mucedo CUVIER, 1798;
Paludicella articulata (EHRENBERG, 1831).
172 bryozoan sites have been investigated. The description of the species has been completed by a stereoscan-study of the statoblasts and hibernacula. Information on the distribution of the species in Luxembourg (grid-maps) and in Europe is presented. Some ecological remarks are made. The problem of the validity of P. coralloides ALLMAN, 1850 is discussed; criteria for separating P. repens from P. fungosa are given; distinctions between hyaline forms of P. repens and H. punctata are established. A key to the European freshwater Bryozoans has been added.
