Shunshiro Taniguchi is a retired orthopaedic specialist, who now divides his time between traditional Japanese ceramic art and his passion for local natural history. He lives on the tropical island Yakushima, a World Heritage site in Japan, where for the last four years he has been amassing and classifying a vast collection of seashells found on the beaches.
After months cataloguing and photographing the collection, he turned this into a beautiful book which brings together the scientific and artistic wonder of these incredible animals – combining anatomical and geographical information with local culture. The book appeals to natural history enthusiasts and anyone interested in the beauty of the natural world.
