Flora of the Maltese Islands, Volume 2 describes a further 190 species of wild plants in full colour, bringing a total of over 350 species illustrated in both volumes 1 and 2. It covers important families such as the Fabaceae and Brassicaceae, with their wealth of species, some also economically important. As in Volume 1, an introduction to the plant families is given in the early pages of the book. Some notes on the leaves of plants are also given, as well as a general description of how to grow a few species of wild trees and shrubs. Flora of the Maltese Islands, Volume 2 is the 2nd of a series of 4 volumes that make up an essential guide to the wild plants of the Maltese Islands. In describing many species of wild plants these books show the beauty of all this natural wealth and at the same time highlighting the importance that both the species and their habitats should be respected and protected.
Please note: the author originally self-published these four volumes as a 3-volume hardback set, which is now out of print. Compared to the original hardback print, the author has abbreviated the contents and put only 2 or 3 pictures of each plant described in this paperback reprint, but otherwise the material covered is largely the same. Due to size constraints during the layout the author had to spread the material out over four instead of three volumes.
