About this book

This Volume 4 is the last of the series and describes the monocotyledons with 177 species illustrated, including families of Orchidaceae, Amaryllidaceae and Poaceae. Photographs and text are conveniently placed side by side. An addendum with 5 dicotyledon species is also included. A glossary and a bibliography can be found at the back pages of the book, followed by an index of English, Maltese and Latin names of plants. Flora of the Maltese Islands Volumes 1 – 4 now cover over 710 species of plants in the Maltese Islands in photographs and serve as an introduction and a guide to the flora of these islands. All revenue generated from these books goes for Fauna & Flora International to help wildlife conservation.

Please note: the author originally self-published these four volumes as a 3-volume hardback set, which is now out of print. Compared to the original hardback print, the author has abbreviated the contents and put only 2 or 3 pictures of each plant described in this paperback reprint, but otherwise the material covered is largely the same. Due to size constraints during the layout the author had to spread the material out over four instead of three volumes.
